Ford Escape VVT Solenoid Repair

  • Year Repaired: 2020 – Present
  • Symptoms: Leaking oil
  • Cause: Solenoid started to stick and would not close
  • Outcome: Removed solenoid and reinstalled a new part
  • Material Cost: $100
  • Time: 3 hours

Notes

The car started to leave puddles on the ground wherever is was parked. The leak seemed to be coming from the Variable Valve Timing Solenoid. The part was replaced under the hood on the passengers side. In my personal experience, solenoids have a tendency to get weaker over time, so this was determined to be the root cause of the issue. No issues have occurred since.
